it doesn't always look great with the old alpha maps, but sometimes swapping is all you need to do

it doesn't work the way you say it doesn't accept the other textures and when i want to start painting it jumps back to the old textures so there's no chance of changing it doesn't work. try it yourself with the map it does not work.

the tool is pretty unintuitive but i'm not having any issues with it, first you need to select the texture with ctrl clicking, then press the "select" button in the window to make it the target, then select another texture with ctrl+click again and finally "swap adt" to swap the old to the new texture

"Doesn't work for me" can usually be solved by telling us the exact steps you're following so that if what you're trying to do is wrong, it can be identified.
