Yes, the router just needs to know where to send the traffic for the port which would be your LAN IP.

The IP address of the server running AC. Think of it like mail - your ISP is federal, they have now delivered a packet to your 'local' town. You now need the address of the local device to deliver it to. Delivering the packet to your wifi connected dishwasher is going to get your packet thrown in the garbage.
