If i may ask, what does this custom patch do?
Sometimes edits require .dbc edits. If you name your patch "Patch-2" and there are files names with the same name in the blizzlike patch 3 then these files will get overwritten.

Not to my knowledge. Restarted my pc just in case, no effect. Even tried swapping the name of patch.mpq and my custom patch, no effect. Honestly perplexed at whats causing this. Could the game just be loading the patch.mpq and ignoring every other MPQ in the directory? But if so, what could be causing this behavior? I tried changing the name of my patch to patch-2.mpq earlier as well but that didnt help either.

If you put in it MPQ2 then it gets overwritten by the spell.dbc's in 3-4

I did that first, but it didnt work, so i swapped the names just to test but that didnt work either, so i swapped them back.
