You're missing the point. There is paperwork that should go along with scanning and processing any type of user information. It's shady deciding not to follow the correct process. They don't care about copyright theft, they don't care about privacy notices.

Well that wasn't my department at Ascension, to write a notice in the Terms of Service. Who knows, probably already in there. Not that illicit private servers operating based on copyright infringement care that much about any of that stuff.

Yea honestly reading other process memory is abit far imo, I had considered the possibility of detecting some additional things like that but honestly the various other layers defeat almost everything except for afew fishing bots that don't call any functions in the client and randomize their process name and window title. A couple do that for some reason.

Well stopping and preventing cheat apps attaching to the client process at the mandatory launcher level is pretty smart

I don't think it's shady to do the same thing anticheat has done a quarter century. It's a basic Windows API, there is no restriction on this. Most servers should probably add this most basic layer, since Warden is useless since everything was written for WoW specifically to avoid or circumvent Warden. So this basic shit catches a bunch of noob cheaters.
