Yeah. Plain Lua is absolutely slow, like 70x slower than C++. Similar performance to Python and Ruby.

Afaik on avg LuaJit comes out to 3x slower than cpp

I wouldn't call that close, perhaps the wording "closer" is fair compared to non jit lua, but not exactly the same

Yes compared to non jit lua, jit lua is faster indeed (By quite a bit), but I wouldn't say lua jit as a general rule is as fast or very close to cpp
