should be easy to pass pointers through the api, just only use them synchronously and never store them and you're fine

I want all the logic to be on the script side but then when you tell a unit to cast a spell, you need the pointer

those can be passed as event parameters, then you can expose something like a map pointer that lets you query for other units in the same map

can you do something like save the Unit pointer, but before accessing it verify that it has the same GUID as you expect

you can't save it at all, you will never know when the core just drops it
