should be easy to pass pointers through the api, just only use them synchronously and never store them and you're fine

I want all the logic to be on the script side but then when you tell a unit to cast a spell, you need the pointer

those can be passed as event parameters, then you can expose something like a map pointer that lets you query for other units in the same map
