I am working in AzerothCore and I have a module I want to add to my server (bench's mod-arac) but it requires adding a patch-a.mpq to my client... I already have a modified patch-a.mpq from a different (client side) module... Should I combine them somehow (advice please) into a single MPQ file or can I just check them for conflicts (advice please) and rename one of them?

Check them for conflicts, you can do so by opening the two with Ladik's MPQ Editor (Found here: http://www.zezula.net/en/mpq/download.html) and checking if they have any overlapping files. If they don't, just rename one. If they do, you've got trouble

Side note: not technically my module

so if I open them both in the editor and don't get any notifications are they good to go or do I need to run some kind of manual check? I'm looking at the filenames and I can't see any duplicates but it's a pretty long list

Arac shouldn't have many files, but if the other one has a bunch of *.xxx files, that one might be problematic. Only real way to know for sure is to rename it and see if they cause problems living together

actually this will almost certainly clash I think... but not with the patch-a.mpq ... I updated the models and the character selection screen which I'm guessing will have changed the CharStartOutfit.dbc file

CharStartOutfit is just cosmetic, so that might look a little weird when you make a character, but it'll otherwise be fine
