There was once upon a time where such microtransactions didn't exist to the same extent, do you think their initial success had anything to do with where they eventually ended up, and if so, do you think if you had the same success you may take the same path, considering you're both starting from the same point of reference (in my opinion)?.

I feel like it really depends what you play a specific game for. If you are in it for competitive integrity, they often are used to introduce some sort of unfairness, but I think this also boils down to ethics and morals

As with everything, I don't think Microtransactions in of itself is the problem, rather certain "bad apples" attempt to take full advantage of what it allows you to do, and then you end up in a moral/ethics debate on whether or not that is right or wrong.
