we host ours as a separate module from the core, since we expect to target azerothcore as well at some point

That's cool, the problem is as Harry says though, the core side "api" if we can even call it that is non-existent, and the core isn't really written to support it as is

yeah, i just don't think we'll ever really have that. There's too much already written that will just never be rewritten unless wow somehow goes zeitgeist again

we'd need dozens and dozens of very competent developers to ever have a chance, nowadays most cores have at most 4-5 really active at all

It's applying plasters to a architecture that is literally nightmarish to do any sort of edits to. Any API built on top of the these foundations is going to have fundamental limitations, but that might be the best we can realistically do
