She paused on the porch, staring at the door.
"Come on, you've got this." She whispered to herself, building up the courage to enter her mother's cabin for the first time since her passing.
She reached out to the handle, closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Pulling gently, it opened quitely as always. The hinges were worn from drastic overuse and gave no resistance. She stepped into the room, a flood of memories hammering away at her mind.
"Right, so to her room. I must deal with this once and for all." She spoke quietly, ignoring the townsfolk reports of the home now being haunted. Drudgingly she took one step at a time, to her mother's room.
The oversized bed was before her, dead flowers still in vases around the room. The scent was nothing but dust and ash now, and no longer the fragrance of roses or other perfumes gentleman may have brought. She stepped forward, heart caught in her throat as she spied the pile of beads on the bed.
"Why are these all connected by a string? That's strange. I can't imagine a purpose for this." her voice echoed in the room.
But then she knew. She understood what they were for, and why her mother had died in such a way, leaving a pile of 300 beads strung together. The one tell-tale sign that always marked deaths like this across the land, and she knew they weren't just rumors anymore. There, on the headboard, were three words.
"MDIC WAS HERE", it read, and she knew her mother, EmoCrotch, had died from an overabundance of insertion of beads.```
