waypoints is used by SAI exclusively while waypoint_data is general waypoints system used by c++ scripts and when you want to assign a default path

no idea why SAI received its own waypoints table, in the past SAI was handling the movement manually (which was also a bad idea), now at least both tables use the same system underneath (WaypointMovementGenerator)

and how can you fill the waypoints table if i want to create an excort quest, for example? do I have to enter everything manually? that would take forever with 30 waypoints, for example

you can't do it in the editor (yet), hopefully in the future you you could just click in the 3d map to spawn points, now you can either
1. move your in-game character along the path, use command `.gps` from time to time to get your position and copy-paste the points to the table or
2. use commands `.wp add [path_id]` to automatically add a new waypoint to `waypoint_data` table at your position, and then you can manually transform `waypoint_data` into `waypoints`

that's the normal process .wp add (creatureguid) to create a waypoint for a spawned creature. and the creature guid = pathid

you can try to use query like
```
INSERT INTO waypoints (entry, pointid, position_x, position_y, position_z)
SELECT id, point, position_x, position_y, position_z
FROM waypoint_data
WHERE waypoint_data.id = XXXX;
```
which should copy waypoint_data to waypoints for given id

what would interest me if something like this quest would be easy to implement: https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/quest=1251...ls-have-us after accepting the quest, it flies you where. in my case a round trip over my map.
