I work with spell_area. Depending on the quest progress, the player moves to a different phase. Phase 8 was now an example and is supposed to herald the end of the quest story.

ok and? how do you determine what "phase 8" is? by quest status?

you need to change the way you think
instead of "player is in phase 8", do "player has completed quest X"
then use that quest id in conditions on the areatrigger

After completing the quest, the player moves to phase 8 and stays there.

the issue i see is that db editor doesnt yet support CONDITION_SOURCE_TYPE_AREATRIGGER_CLIENT_TRIGGERED
