usually comes down to:

- port forwarding authserver port 3724
- port forwarding worldserver port (8085 by default)
- configuring your public ip in your `realmlist` table in the `address` column
- making sure your firewall allows connection to both your worldserver and authserver
- making sure your `realmlist.wtf` is actually changed when you save it (warmane clients typically sets the file to readonly, so nothing changes when you edit it)

if none of this works, you may have to:

- change the default worldserver port (i've noticed a lot of people have issues with 8085 on windows), this needs to be changed in both realmlist table and `worldserver.conf`
- clean out wow cache/wtf folders (rare, but fixes some issues)
- if you're hosting through a reverse ssh tunnel, your `local_address` should match your `address` column (if you don't know what this means, you're not doing it)
- check if you can even port forward at all (basic ping web server or something), then call your isp if not, sometimes works depending on where you live
