exactly. the benefit of spell auras is that they just work, taking on the responsibility yourself comes with all sorts of caveats

it's easier as in that it allows you to just tell the game what phase the player is supposed to have, but it's more difficult in that it's now your responsibility to clear it correctly whenever the player leaves your area
