in general to get started you gotta sniff this though, to figure out proper packet order (maybe some structures have to be researched even, i updated them last around 8.x patch for it)

I am familiar with it, i'm a soft engineer for day job
I explored the networking part to understand the socket communication with the world, and now I am on the database (the worker pools, query, async callbacks and everything)

How does the multiple branch/version come into play?
Atm I am on master but some parts would need to be backported to older versions, right?

master is reflecting the current patch on retail (the war within, 11.0.7), while other branches reflect other patches, e.g. 4.4.x cata classic or 3.3.5 wotlk
