i am not following the docker install instructions for azcore, i am following the normal linux install, thats why i am starting with a plan ubuntu docker image. the docker-compose.yml would be the one for docker on the synology

Oh, and i did find a way to upgrade my docker version on the synology, i am now running docker 20.10.23

This is interesting, it sounds like your saying that after my startup script completes, then success or fail, the container will close. I still think my script is failing to start the mysqld service. But this is a new problem i will have to solve as well.

my understanding is that rolling your own build and treating docker like a VM is to get around the constraint of the older version possibly not supporting some of the settings used in the upstream Dockerfile.

without this constraint it's typically a sub-optimal idea to run multiple services in the same docker container. Don't mean to discourage you though, if you want to do it and you're having fun, keep going.

keep in mind too that this channel is primarily for identifying and troubleshooting issues with the docker configuration in the main repo. It's fine to chat about it in here, but supporting custom docker builds is "best effort" rather than the level that I can provide to the build in the main repo
