i did get some locale errors etc after just clearing db so must be something

You should have a look at https://github.com/tkn963/codebase/blob/...minimal.sh if you ever want to manage your core without the acore script. I have the script without -minimal too which handles modules but only the ones I use or have used myself.

actually i was just thinking of making own script cos the acore.sh is mostly stuff i never use

If you plan to use bash, you are welcome to use my script for ideas. It handles everything from updating config files, importing database files (i dont use the auto updater) and fetching and downloading the latest available client data files in one run.

I disable it with the script, just like it updates all .conf files based on what I put in the .xml file
