I think so, yes. I am biased but I also don't like the ability to abuse the system without an accept/deny feature.

I think the same, that one can choose whether to accept or reject that offer.

One can start placing each new user they see and spam the recruitment, leaving no option for the other person to reject it.

Well yeah, otherwise someone could just recruit people to mess with them because they can't be recruited again so they can't for example team up with an actual friend
