Kind of defeats the purpose using someone elses Lua script or module if you have to code it yourself

I don't know about the module. But with the Lua script and the wordpress plugin for acore cms, it's all on the users.

I don't know how the linking works with the module. Good thing you do. It's not been obvious to me before.

I imagine that the easiest and fastest thing will be to use the module to recruit a friend, since I have no programming knowledge

It all depends on which one you use. One you use a command and it instantly takes effect, the user just have to relog. That's bad. Mine, the user recruits someone and whoever it is gets notified and have to deny or accept it before it takes effect (and relog). That's good.

Does the module that exists now in Azerothcore to recruit a friend not allow you to reject the invitation?

and I know the same thing can be achieved in Lua because I made a Lua version of my module just to see if it could be done and it was basically the same deal.

There are 2 in the catalogue as far as I can see, and with one you can but the other you can't.
