I don't see where you read that modifying the config inside the modules/<mod-name>/conf is the way to do it. There's no way anyone here said it or the AzerothCore wiki.

It doesn't seem to prevent me from starting up the server or even logging into an account, but my server has been crashing on realm login, and I was wondering if that message is indicating the cause

Well, on: https://github.com/azerothcore/mod-ah-bot It says: 'If you need to change the module configuration, go to your server configuration folder (where your worldserver or worldserver.exe is) rename the file mod_ahbot.conf.dist to mod_ahbot.conf and edit it.' Newcomer here, so I asked.

Confusion on my part TBH. Must've misunderstood this: 'If you need to change the module configuration, go to your server configuration folder (where your worldserver or worldserver.exe is) rename the file mod_ahbot.conf.dist to mod_ahbot.conf and edit it.'

On a happier note, got this to work and it's really cool: https://github.com/azerothcore/mod-guildhouse. If you haven't tried it yet, it's neat!

Also, don't rename it. Make a copy of it and remove the .dist from the copy and edit that one.
