Sure, for a single application I agree that it makes little sense to run docker, that's just extra overhead

BSD-style Jails are super good

I know it's very much personal preference and your personal requirements. I run many LXC containers and went the route of setting up a script that SSHs into each of them and updates them (when I actually need it which is very rare) and another one that manages the services on them all. For you it doesn't seem worth the effort but my personal choice is this and I respect that many disagrees with me.

Jails are nice but it's still too niche. I don't trust docker much either, but we primarily have air gapped systems, separate networks per container and strict container user policies

yeah high level as long as the fuckin app is accessible and it's not an arm and a leg to deploy a new version, these are all correct answers haha

Exactly. Please don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Docker is the bad choice because it *really* isn't - it's just how I look at it that matters to me just like it is the same for you.

I tried to run Docker on a Windows system and it just flat out refused to work. I wanted to play around with it, learn how it works and Windows said nope.

Docker on windows is iffy, I don't like it much. If I was to do docker on windows id rather set it up in WSL, but
