well in my VM manager im setting threads not cores i just mentioned it bcs that could be how it works and i dont remember how vmware works

I don't know what software works how. Proxmox I can get it to use 48-52% with half the cores assigned to a VM which is using it all. Most hypervisors are more than likely using threads but it's handling it in a smart way and you can't tell the difference.

Unless you specify how to assign them and ruin the VM on purpose, that is.
