You want to place all your custom edits in the `custom` folder. The core will re-apply these queries.

Regardless of where you place the file(s), you should always store your custom changes somewhere safe so that you never lose them.

Ah, no. I always re-apply my custom changes after each update since an update might overwrite my changes even if it isn't very likely.
