That's true. A lot of hackfixes etc or rather band-aids that'll stop working eventually.

but when u think about it it doesnt seem like a lot...if u get 5 experienced c++ devs u can create cata from wotlk base in 1-2 years

If they're working full-time, maybe. I don't know what it would take so I don't have any idea of the amount of work required but I imagine with a lot of attention 2ish years does sound reasonable.

yes fulltime obviously...even back then blizzard didnt have a lot more and now its easier bcs faster compilation and more knowledge and obviously biggest thing is that recreating is easier than creating

Right but it’s not yet stable. Compared to azerothcore, for example. Bugs are immediately apparent.
