the root of the problem is that once you enter wing A and add all those creatures to the list, you never see those creatures added to the world again unless you reset the instance entirely. if you go into wing B, those creatures also get added to the world, but the ones from wing A still exist.

I still feel like a check at runtime doesn't bring anything to the table tho. The average level could easily be read from the database at start-up.
