as a web developer I don't really agree. Sure, it's not widely known, but it only takes you a fraction of your time to configure it for setup

No, I'm saying that I've seen a lot of articles and blog posts saying that SOAP should be avoided. Personally I feel like that's because of the author's unfamiliarity with SOAP, and a lot of weird ideas about SOAP with regards to REST APIs, which most of these authors seem to conflate

I don't think SOAP should be avoided- I'm saying that I think that azerothcore will probablysee a fair number of people who think that any part of azerothcore development that can avoid SOAP should, because they don't know a lot about SOAP and it has a bad reputation as a result of a bunch of other people who don't know SOAP trashing it
