Because the server has the same DBC change and that determines what the server will use. That's why you need to change on both sides.

The client side is just a visual thing, it doesn't actually determine anything important.

As soon as you click craft the server checks the DBCs and makes sure the player has the reagents

yeah that's why i was wondering how does it change anything, so one would need to add the spell in the DB, hence making that override?

Then why when I edit the name of an object, I must change the DB item_template, instead of having an item_template.dbc I could straight up edit ? Some changes like item name can be done server side only, but other changes require both client and server side changes

hmm maybe because whenever it implies a cleint/server interaction, then changes must be done to dbc?
