Most servers probably run on one... So no you don't need more. (If you use mod-Eluna that setting doesn't apply, by the way, that forces it to run on 1 thread.)

Well it forces the map updates to be ~~concurrent~~ successive, so while there can be more than one thread, they won't be asynchronous

I have yet to add the eluna module, but basically it sounds like I am having a clock speed issue more than a thread count issue?

the preload seems to run fine after some tweaking like 1-3ms update speed diff but the waypoint movement thing seems to cause huge lag despite it having the same cpu usage

Sounds unlikely to me that feeding expensive hardware into an emulator that is a patchwork of up to 20 years old code will speed it up significantly
