Hey all! Been lovin the MTL vids, only just found them a week or two ago. Been thinking of getting into the modding side of things with minor tweaks to a WOTLK server on my pc (currently watching a bunch of vids on how to set it all up etc), just have a quick question....
How difficult is it to set up seasonal events (like Winterveil, Halloween etc), or is it not possible at all? Not sure how wow works it, but assume the resources are always there and they just flick a switch to start them? Or is it more complicated. Could you conceivably have a server that was ALWAYS in a particular season? ALong that line how hard would it be to change the weather to something more permanent in a zone, like always snowy, or always raining etc?

You want to look at the game event / holiday tables. I've not played with it myself but all of that functionality is controlled through that and should be easily modifiable.

You also have holiday DBC files.

That depends. TrinityCore and AzerothCore run 3.3.5a, except for TrintyCore's master branch, which is usually the latest version of Dragonflight. Those are the two big emulators in the scene. The master branch is very much a work in progress. If you're interested in BFA/Shadowlands/Dragonflight emulators, you'll want to check out some of the niche developers like DekkCore and Forged Core, which are both Dragonflight-focused.

There's also Cata, MoP, Legion and BFA emulators, but they all have their own challenges and many are unplayable without a whole lot of work

Yeah, then you're looking at TrinityCore's 3.3.5a branch and AzerothCore

Keep in mind that with both there are some challenges that everyone setting up a server faces. If you come across issues, ask about them in the community's Discord first. From there you can reach out to the WoW Modding Discord, where people like stoneharry answer specific issues!

Thanks mate. Just trying to get all my work finished for the week so I can spend a bit more time on it lol. So much to learn, so I wanted to start out as simple as possible and just start doing minor tweaks and stuff. Biting off more than I can chew will just lead to frustration and quiting lol
