Then removing the TXID with m2mod no longer works as I usually do
but it is still present

if you do that with m2 mod use it's txid remover first
m2 -> m2i if necessary
then reconvert m2i -> m2
then open the newest m2, delete it's md21 chunk (8 first bytes)
use scrip, save and close
then multiconverter

I said that I do it like I normally do... m2mod TXID -> m2i -> set nviews -> rename skin files *lod files --> multiconverter

So now I'm doing it like you said above because I'm using m2mod. It's just one more step because of the script.
