Well it implies things of a certain age, not quite vintage so to speak, but retro, but which way does it go in the sense of "retroporting"?

Yes, I prefer "backporting", it's clearer, actually, it's very self-explanatory. heh

backporting is also terminology used in GNU/Linux distributions for the act of attempting newer packages on older distribution versions so I've seen the term quite a few times. heh

Anyway, I'm going to ask my question here because it was pushed into the <#415944535718494208> scrollback, so what I want to know is... I backported Darkmoon Island, I got all the models working and everything, minimap, etc, even the big view map, Sound effects work and music should eventually work too. Anyway, say I teleport onto the island from X, the place name displays in the top-right as X, and I have the music of X, is everything and anything, it could be goldshire, it could be an area of kalimdor, it could be anything. Anyway, how do I fix this problem? I am confident the area and map DBCs are correct.

Retroporting and backporting are often used interchangeably in software development, but they have distinct connotations:

Backporting:
Definition: Backporting refers to the process of taking features, fixes, or updates from a newer version of software and applying them to an older version.
Common Usage: The term is more frequently used in the context of applying security patches or bug fixes to older software versions to ensure they remain secure and functional without necessitating a full upgrade.
Scope: Backporting is usually limited to essential updates, such as critical bug fixes or security patches, rather than full feature sets.

Retroporting:
Definition: Retroporting is the process of adapting or applying changes from newer software to an older version. While similar to backporting, it can also involve more extensive adaptations to ensure compatibility with older systems.
Common Usage: The term is often used to describe broader efforts to maintain functionality across different versions of software, potentially involving more complex adjustments than backporting.
Scope: Retroporting might involve more extensive changes to incorporate new features or ensure better compatibility with the older system, beyond just critical fixes.
