It's like ignoring code licenses, of course the servers are going to do it. Should we stop calling out that they are being ignored? No

Did Battlefield 6 players stop playing the game due to the intrusive nature of their anticheat? It's the same rhetoric for Ascension: if it's to prevent cheaters, then the players will be happy even if Dutch can see which players are going on Pornhub while they play.

You are completely missing the point. It's a legal requirement to disclose in a privacy notice that users have to explicitly accept if you are going to scan personal information like process window titles.

You are free to ignore that law, but it's still a legal requirement. Professionals in the space will comply with regulation where they can. Black-hat actors will continue being black-hat.

As mentioned above, the servers and everything else are hosted in lenient jurisdictions, so it’s up to the player to decide whether to play on such a server or not. Aside from the already illegal territory of private server emulation, the rest is just a matter of good faith; everyone is free to do what they want, even RCE the players via the client if they choose to.

This is NOT about where it is hosted. You can deploying software onto users machine that are in these jurisdictions. That means you must legally comply.

gdpr depends on the customer's location, not where services or the "business" is located.

Ascension’s hiding out in Russia dude, they crap on the rules like a Siberian bear on an EU treaty, sipping vodka and coding their launcher with a “nazdorovie”! Seriously, as long as players are farming their transmogs, they won’t cry over a process scan AC.. it’s the taiga, not Brussels!
