a smarter approach than looping over every possible combination of valid ascii file names?

well somehow you have to come up with directory paths and file names;
i dont think fully (or partially) randomized generation of a full path + file name is a valid strategy

doing a smart approach will certainly cut down on computation time... the only problem i see is if they purposefully generated unusual file names to hamper reversing with smart approaches/constraints.

using special characters like german äöüß, emojis (lol) or forward slashes.
the hashing function works on any data, not just "valid" or expexted strings is what i mean ^^

anyway, will be addressed as a future addition to my mpq library

well thats definitely NOT a feasible way to bruteforce a MPQ, but as always if it's your hobby then enjoy what ur doing

collisions are a worry with bruteforcing the primitive hashing scheme old blizz stuff uses (and even some current blizz stuff)

even with a wordlist and limiting it to valid characters its extremely rough
