i would recommend to hook the function which searches the MPQ files.
but as i have seen in the ZIP you linked, they also require you to replace the wow.exe, so the offsets could be different for the hooking function.

bc there is also a custom wow.exe in the zip, it could also be that they use a custom hashing algorithm when looking up files in the MPQ.
or the filenames are just not what you expect ^^
