however, I do indeed don't see the point in a proof-of-concept etc... that's usually to help security researchers and people developing a fix, but no one will be developing a fix.

well, a patch to the exe is possible yea, but nothing's stopping a server intending to maliciously exploit it from using the old exe. Expecting every player to run a patcher on their exe "to be safe" forever is unreasonable
