yes, there was a example of how warmane uses some of the initial packets to do such. idk if it was ever written anywhere though

Alot of new shit got introduced and slightly changed from the current client from what i am told. Most is currently unused since its pre patch

I just wonder how do they push DBC to client. That would be perfect thing to push spell hotfixes without needing to patch the client every moment
