It has LAN play, so I assume some network code could be sniffed that way, and then just modified for WAN use.

And it has console versions that might still have server support, but I don't know how you sniff console traffic.

If its just about finding other players, you could do that without needing to know how they did it, you'd only need to know where in the game client the packet handler that the old master server would send is
