and should you not like the quirks of any of them, then you can then look at those tools and write your own, improving on the shoulders of those who came before you - which is how growth pretty much works in most creative fields.

don't say that to loud. every business like apple or google etc will never admit to that its all their own, along with rampant "not invented here" syndrome

Don't forget that people often do this stuff to learn and not to fill a gap in our tooling. If tool X is a neat foundation to learn about e.g. ADTs, it's fine to recreate something in ur own way

I usually (re)build tooling because I want to learn how it works internally.
And also to be ready when people want to move on from 3.3.5 to something newer, be the first to know how to update tooling
