well you'd have to run a script before you rebuild the core. Or it could be included in build scripts

a big issue i think you'll notice is that all cores expose tons and tons of utility functions that do nothing meaningful for a scripter at all

and the bigger your api, the more breaking changes you'll have _somewhere_ along the line

whether that's behind your api or exposed directly to the users, there is no single good way to solve the underlying interfaces changing
