Afaik, WDBX tool from Barn works pretty well. So there is no reason to do smth similar.

Idk how people work with that in WoW. All that i know, that LUA is just used for scripting and defining client behavior.

iirc they are used for script scenarios, dungeons and other stuff in-game (server too). Is there a way to control this scripting stuff without c++ knowledge?

Lua doesn't really need any tools. The only tool that exists that's pretty useful there is the one for designing the login screen.
