i meant (sry i do not know on top of my head) variable changes etc.. one example would be unit32 (or something like that). and if u for example worked with that it can get a completly new variable/logic etc. in the next update making any custom edits unusable unless u rewrite everything

You don't _have_ to do core edits for a loooot of stuff you normally would. But as with anything you can still hit a point and want to fork and tweak more to your projects needs. In our case we use TBC based classes so have reverted a bunch of class stuff core side that's very Epoch specific. But have also added perf improvements, system fixes, pet movement fixes etc that are generic and can be cherry picked by whomever

i had a hard time using chatgpt to change things because a few months before it used one structure and now it uses a different one and if u do not have that old structure u can't change anything

That can happen when you're inheriting from any parent project. AC updates much more often so you'll hit that more. We've had _maybe_ 1 gnarly merge to do in about 4 years on TS / TrinityCore.
