Easiest way I personally know of is to run an extractor toolset that comes with most server cores. I'm sure people that do just the modeling/texturing side have a better way that I'm unaware of.

One thing you will notice as you go, a lot of information is just gone. Over the years people and entire forums have moved on with life and stopped updating/hosting the information. So if you figure out how to do something it's a good idea to keep notes.

Well, everyone moved onto Discord, which has its advantages and disadvantages. For search engine use, and searching in general, it's a pretty terrible format.

Unpack it yes. Which takes a lot of space for a single tool, but I was too lazy to implement mpq support. I put that tool together in a matter of hours and it shows

Also you will find as you search around that stoneharry makes like half the freaking tools that wotlk uses for it's modding.
