I mean Ladik could've easily done what I did himself, the format version is specified right there is the header, just wondering if there was a reason why he didn't do that.

What if I want to learn about the data within the many different file formats, what if I want tools which are suitable for my personal workflow? Are these unnecessary reasons to reinvent the wheel?
