The point of a fork though is to continue is own direction away from the original thing, you also should give it an identity, and yes, start at version 1, I don't see how that's confusing, 2 MultiConverter's one called "MultiConverter", one called "Foo", they both have different versioning, how is this confusing? Okay, it may be a bit overwhelming which of the 2 software's you choosee.
