i tried that yesterday and i still get the error that shred can only be used in front of target

Theres spell power by % of a stat. But i think it takes just the base 4 or 5 stats

Odd. I do know that removing the spell_custom_attr should be enough to clear that, as I can't think of anywhere else that is set. Double check you're getting the right spell IDs. And while I don't think it's required, you may want to delete your client's /Cache/ folder.
