I'm trying to recolor particles in some of the tier items, like helmets. I found the BLPs in 010 but they appear grayscale when extracting them and viewing. Is it possible that color information is somewhere in the helmet M2 files ?

Is it actually particles?

M2 particles have 3 colours: start of animation, middle of animation, and end of animation. It blends between them automatically. They are just RGB values in the particle struct.

Personally I'm hella gratefull for current tools that are out so I can mess with wow things myself. I'd simply have no real clue how to contribute back to the community in general even if I'd make something myself. Best thing I'd be able to offer would be map files. I'm not a coder myself more of a file/db/content pleb and since I'm not working on something like a normal 3.3.5 I'd not be able to PR things back like quest&npc fixes

I believe they are particles but I don't know how to be sure? I've manually recolored all BLPs like "Helm_Robe_RaidPriest_F_01ParticlesA" which again are just grayscale. No appearance change in-game

The texture changes, but the glowing around the item itself does not
