AGPL wasn’t valid in existing files. And was reverted. But you’re grossly underestimating how much of AC is new files with AGPL and that’s not being undone any time soon.

> AzerothCore supports modules, which is one of the greatest advantages especially for custom servers as they allow you to place your custom code separately from the main core code (even in a separate repository).
>
> It is true that AzerothCore has a stricter license (AGPL) compared to TrinityCore (GPL), however, this does not prevent developers from creating custom modules which can have a different license or even be completely private and closed-source. The license of AzerothCore is meant to force people to share their fixes about the Blizz-like content, while they are allowed to keep their customisations private. This goes in line with our [philosophy](https://www.reddit.com/r/wowservers/comm..._why_imho/)

They are misinformed, I inquired about this exact thing to the FSF and they said as much

good rule of thumb is to throw anything that AC owners said out of window

Just search AGPL in their Discord. You'll see them admitting it's wrong lol.

Lua scripts through Eluna, C++ modules, added SQL entries/changes, all of it needs to be AGPL'ed according to the FSF
