I think a mistake was made, they didn’t really understand the ramifications and by the time they did it was 5 years of commits too late.

ye exactly reason why they then didnt comment and closed on PR which was fixing this and it was stale for 2 or 3 years

That’s different. Two separate failures. The first one is applying AGPL at all, the second was then not properly dealing with that and plodding on.
