it's an unsigned int not a float so it can make use of all 32 bits

I mean, float is 1bit sign, 8 bits mantisssa, 24 bits for numbers

I think we have a confusion here, from the fact you're presuming these values are 32-bit int, when they are not

the values that are actually floats are perfectly fine, issue is with very large numbers--such as colors which are just several numbers packed together)
